Book Launch at Durham Law School
Durham International Dispute Resolution Institute (DIDRI) invites you to a great book launch event on third-party funding (TPF). TPF may raise complex procedural and ethical issues. Some jurisdictions and international arbitration centres have started addressing this development in their laws and rules. Interesting case laws are developing in some jurisdictions in international commercial arbitration as well as case law in investment arbitration.
Third-Party Funding In Investment Arbitration Book Cover
Dr Can Eken wrote a book on this topic based on his PhD thesis at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The book presents a comprehensive analysis of TPF. In the book, there are also important empirical data on funders through interviews conducted with nearly thirty people working for third-party funders. It reveals a range of potential problems and lays out how funders are addressing them. Dr Eken created a guideline to eliminate potential procedural and ethical issues that third-party funding might raise. By doing so, it sheds new light on under-researched issues and offers essential guidance to help orient legal policy. Therefore, this book launch event will give great insights into this new player in the system.
