The Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) and Durham Law School at Durham University (United Kingdom) have entered into an Agreement on internship arrangements aimed at promoting Cambodia’s transitional justice mechanisms and experiences to students and alumni of Durham Law School.

Durham Law School celebrates an outstanding performance by Angela Fantian Meng and Jia Qi Ang (both LLB students), who secured the runner-up position at the 14th Annual Southampton National Moot Competition.

Durham Law School’s Pro Bono team has successfully raised £1,120 (and counting) for two leading legal charities, LawWorks and Advocate, through participation in the Law School Challenge. This marks the first year that Durham Law School has taken part in national student pro bono fundraising, making this achievement even more significant.

On the evening of 4th March 2025, Durham Law School welcomed Sir Jonathan Jones KC (Hon), Alex Horne and Emma Christie as speakers on “Perspectives on Public Law”, an event organised by the Durham Human Rights and Public Law Centre and the Durham student Law Society.

On 1 April 2025, Shandong University Law School and Durham Law School signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at Durham to establish a double master’s degree programme.

On March 17, Judge Hilary Charlesworth delivered her public lecture “Human Rights and the International Court of Justice”. In her lecture, she charted the growing openness of the ICJ to human rights-based arguments in its jurisprudence.

Dr Mark Amakoromo, a postdoctoral researcher at Durham Law School, has recently submitted input to the UN Special Rapporteur on Climate Change for a thematic report on human rights in the context of climate change, focusing on the Fossil Fuel-based Economy and Human Rights.

On 7 March 2025, Durham Law School’s Institute for Commercial and Corporate Law held its Annual Lecture. The lecture promotes, amongst other things, the Institute’s international reputation for world class research on topics that fall within its broad remit; it also frequently stimulates conversations that lead to new lines of inquiry.
