Lei has been appointed as a member of the PRC Supreme People's Court's International Commercial Expert Committee.
Members of this committee may mediate cases entrusted by the International Commercial Court to resolve international commercial disputes. They also provide advisory opinions for Chinese courts on specific foreign law issues related to international commercial disputes and offer advice on relevant judicial interpretations and policies formulated by the Supreme People's Court.
The committee comprises 63 members, the majority of whom are esteemed international commercial law experts from various jurisdictions worldwide. Notable members include Sir William Blair KC, former High Court Judge in England and Wales; Professor George Berman of Columbia Law School; the Honourable James Allsop AC, Former Chief Justice of the Federal Court of Australia; Justice Steven Chong, Judge of the Court of Appeal of Singapore; Justice Anselmo Reyes of the Singapore International Commercial Court, and Justice David Unterhalter, Judge of the Supreme Court of Appeal of South Africa.
