Durham Law School’s Thom Brooks was invited to speak to a research group within the Ministry of Justice.

Professor Brooks spoke about “Principled Punishment: Examining the Role of Penal Purposes in Sentencing” drawing on two decades of his research into the use and relevance of different penal purposes in sentencing outcomes. Over 180 attended the lecture. Brooks is currently writing Punishment: A Very Short Introduction (Oxford University Press) that draws on themes covered.
