Our innovative approach to Liberal Arts provides you with the prospect of a truly transformative experience in Durham, studying in academic departments across the Arts & Humanities and Social Sciences.​

We will guide you in constructing your own unique degree programme, which you can use to combine fields of specific interest with the range of skills and knowledge you would like both to be able to present to potential employers, and to create yourself a meaningful life beyond the world of work. ​

At least half of your module choices each year will be taken in the Arts & Humanities, where we also offer opportunities to develop digital and employability skills, as well as work placements and international study options. 

Whatever your choices, you will build towards an independent research project (dissertation) in your final year. Along the way, you will benefit not just from the knowledge of world-leading academics, but from the experience of the Liberal Arts Team and your individual departments, tutors, colleges and university support services, who will work alongside you to facilitate your creation of a life and a future that excites you.
