Violence, Abuse and Control in LGBT+ Relationships
A joint event between Durham University and WWIN exploring abuse and control in LGBT+ relationships, creating a safe space to share experiences and shape future support.
LGBT Flag
This is a free event open to all LGBT+ people who live, work or travel in Wearside (we can offer some travel expenses).
The venue is accessible, and a light lunch and refreshments will be provided for all attendees.
We want to create a safe space in order to:
- Share what the latest research tells us about violence, abuse and control in LGBT+ relationships, recognising the unique forms of abuse and barriers faced by LGBT+ people in their intimate relationships.
- Hear from LGBT+ people in Wearside about their experiences and perspectives, including where they would get help if they or someone they knew was being controlled, scared, or hurt by their partner, ex-partner or family-member.
- Hear from WWIN about their domestic abuse services and the help and support they can provide to LGBT+ survivors and others worried about domestic abuse.
- Work together to discuss how WWIN could better help LGBT+ people who experience violence, abuse and control in their relationships.
