The Course Catalogue is an online platform hosting a range of short courses provided by the University. Some of these courses will be open to all learners, and some to specific groups. You do not have to be a registered student or member of staff to study these.

Durham University Course Catalogue Terms

These terms and conditions are supplementary and in addition to Durham University’s Terms and Conditions for Event Booking. In the event that there is any conflict between these terms and conditions and the Terms and Conditions for Event Booking, these terms and conditions shall take precedence.

1. Cancellation of Courses by Durham University

In exceptional circumstances, Durham University (the “University”) may need to withdraw or cancel a course before it begins or while it is being delivered.

Where it is necessary for a course to be cancelled before it begins, the University will use its best endeavours to inform affected learners, at least 2 weeks before the original course start date.

Learners who have paid a course fee for a course cancelled by the University will be entitled to a full refund.

Where a course is cancelled after it has commenced, the University will explain the options available to affected learners, which may include a full refund, transfer to an alternative course where appropriate, or another suitable remedy.

2. Complaints, Refunds and Cancellation Rights

The University is committed to providing a high-quality learning experience.

If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of your course, you are encouraged to raise your concerns as soon as possible.

In the event that any learner wishes to withdraw from a course, learners should contact the University using the contact details provided within the Course Catalogue outlining their reasoning. Requests should include sufficient information to identify the learner, the course and the reason for the request.

The University will acknowledge withdrawal requests within five working days.

Refunds may be available where:

• • the University fails to or is unable to deliver a course substantially as described; or
  • a technical issue attributable to the University prevents reasonable access to the course.

Refunds will not be available where:

• • statutory cancellation rights no longer apply;
  • the learner is unable to complete the course due to personal circumstances;
  • the learner has failed to meet any published entry requirements; or
  • the learner has breached these Terms and Conditions.
