Users accompanied by children policy

As part of our inclusive welcome to our Libraries, children are allowed in when accompanied by their parent or guardian.

Children need to remain with their parent/guardian and should not be left unaccompanied.

Rules and regulations of the Library and University apply to all our users and visitors. These include appropriate use of quiet and silent study areas, use of IT equipment and Wi-Fi network.

Stay and Study
Our study spaces are for single use only. We would suggest that study spaces may not provide a suitable environment for young children. But we do not restrict parents/guardians using study spaces appropriately with your children. At busy times, priority for study spaces may be given to students.

Borrowing and collection of reservations

If you are accompanied by children or dependents, you can choose to remain in the reception area and, subject to staff availability, our staff will be pleased to collect any books for you. (It may not always be possible to offer this) If you would prefer to come in with your children you are very welcome to do so.

We do not need to record any names or details of your children. You will still need to enter by swiping the gates with your campus card, and library staff will open the gate for your children to enter.
