Accommodation

University accommodation at Durham University is very limited due to high demand, therefore we are unable to offer university managed accommodation to incoming European students. Students will be required to source their own accommodation on the private market. Students who live in private accommodation are still a member of a College and we will let you know during the summer which College you have been allocated to.

Durham City has a variety of flats, houses, rooms in owners' homes and purpose built student accommodation sites spread across the city and surrounding areas.

There are a number of online advertising platforms and letting agents that can be found via any internet search engine for 'student accommodation in Durham'. Durham University does not make any specific recommendations of letting agents, advertising platforms or properties.

To help with your search, here are some general househunting tips.

The University’s main accommodation page provides information on househunting tips, terminology and a link for general enquiries.  Click here to find out more: private accommodation.

Our Colleges

Even if you don't live in one of Durham's Colleges as a member of a College you will be able to participate in College life, including joining student groups, playing College sports, attending the famed College formal meals or just visiting the College bar. Former students remember it for years.
