We are one of Europe’s leading universities, placed 32nd in the latest QS World University Rankings: Europe.
The result puts us in the top three per cent of almost 1,000 European universities ranked in the league table.
The rankings highlight our strengths in graduate outcomes, academic and employer reputation, and global impact in an increasingly competitive higher education environment.
The new rankings are calculated from 12 individually weighted metrics, covering academic and employer reputation, research impact, internationalisation and more.
Among these, Durham was placed highly for faculty-student ratio and employer reputation, highlighting our supportive learning environment and the global strong demand for our graduates.
Our high international diversity score reflects concerted efforts to welcome students and academics from across the globe, reinforcing our global reach and inclusivity.
We also saw notable improvements in research influence and international research network metrics, demonstrating that our research is increasingly connected and impactful.
Professor Karen O’Brien, our Vice-Chancellor and Warden, said: “This exceptional achievement reflects our global reputation for graduate employability and sustainability as well as the quality and relevance of our research and teaching, areas in which we continue to make significant progress.”
Since 2010 Durham University has been ranked in the QS World Top 100. In the same rankings, we are 64th globally for employability and 22nd for sustainability.
We are in the top five for all three major UK rankings: The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide, the Guardian University Guide, and the Complete University Guide.
