News from the SCALES Slenslit!

We have received the first spectra from the full instrument from our colleagues at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and they look fantastic.

The light (in this case from a calibration lamp) has passed through a silicon microlens array, the resulting spots have been rearranged by the slicer system, and then coupled into the spectrograph, producing this image of the dispersed light.

A great milestone for the project and a testament to the excellent work of the whole CfAI team!
