Abstract

Astronomy is a popular science because of the accessibility of the night sky, even under light polluted urban conditions a few very bright stars are still visible to enjoy. Cultural Astronomy includes studies of Indigenous cultures and their sky watching, connecting archaeological remains to celestial knowledge and artistic rendering of the sky among many other sky related topics. This lecture focuses on Africa, Africans and their relations with the night sky.

This lecture is free and open to all. Registration is not required to attend in person.
