Teasing Out Evidence of Science Advancement at Conferences and Workshops

Abstract:  

As a team member of the project designed by Durham University professors Dave Alexander (astrophysics) and Sara Uckelman (philosophy) focused on the community, physical location and curated experiences that lead to scientific advancements, Dr Holbook is interested in the role of astrophysics conferences and workshops in advancing science. The project utilises both my background in astrophysics and my nearly three decades of experience as a social scientist studying living people. This presentation will be an overview of the project and will include preliminary results.
