Welcome to The Centre for Scientific Community Opinion Polling and Evaluation

C-SCOPE (the Centre for Scientific Community Opinion Polling and Evaluation) is a global network designed to survey scientific communities on key questions of interest. It enables thousands of scientists to be contacted with a carefully formulated statement and to provide a rapid agree/disagree response, typically within seconds.

C-SCOPE Network

What is C-SCOPE?

C-SCOPE is a large international hub-and-spoke network, uniquely positioned to survey scientific communities on an ongoing basis. It is designed to generate systematic datasets on the distribution of scientific opinion, both at particular points in time and longitudinally, as views evolve. This includes, as a special case, the measurement of the strength and structure of scientific agreement regarding specific statements of interest.

The international reach of the network also enables analysis of variation across disciplines, institutions, and geographical regions, allowing patterns of agreement and disagreement to be mapped at multiple levels.

Following a successful pilot phase in 2022–23 (involving 30 institutions), the network has expanded substantially. More than 80 institutions have provisionally agreed to participate in the 2024–27 phase, each with a designated spoke representative responsible for local coordination.
