Recognition for Emma McCabe's published research

Last year Emma worked with researchers from Europe and the U.S. on a review into ‘Structural chirality and related properties in periodic inorganic solids’ which has been specially selected by the Institute of Physics as a standout example of UK research. The review was chosen for the significant impact it has made since publication and ‘will feature in promotional activities reaching researchers in The United Kingdom and around the world’, say the IOP.

And in a more recent collaboration Emma has been working with international researchers and institutions alongside teams from the Science and Technology Facilities Council’s ISIS Neutron and Muon Source Centre - a world-leading science research centre located at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in Oxfordshire. They’ve been carrying out a full characterisation of the double perovskite Pb₂MgReO₆.

The crystal structure of the double perovskite Pb₂MgReO₆ (right) was investigated using neutron, electron and X-ray diffraction. This research has been highlighted by the centre on their website this week: view the article here.

“It was a privilege to collect fantastic neutron and muon data, and to work alongside the expert instrument scientists, to understand this complex material” says Emma.
