Prof Elisa Morgera joins CIL NUS webinar on "The Right to a Safe, Stable and Healthy Climate: From Recognition to Realisation" moderated by Dr Elena Pribytkova, CIL NUS.

Professor Elisa Morgera, UN Special Rapporteur on Climate Change and Human Rights and Professor of Global Environmental Law at Durham University, recently participated in the webinar The Right to a Safe, Stable and Healthy Climate: From Recognition to Realisation, hosted by the Centre for International Law (CIL) at the National University of Singapore on 8 October 2026.

The webinar explored how the growing recognition of the human right to a safe, clean, healthy and sustainable environment can be translated into meaningful action and effective protection in the context of the climate crisis. Bringing together leading experts in international law, human rights and climate governance, the event examined practical pathways for turning legal recognition into real-world implementation.

Drawing on her work as UN Special Rapporteur, Professor Elisa Morgera shared insights on the relationship between climate change and human rights, highlighting the legal and governance measures needed to support climate justice and protect those most vulnerable to climate impacts.

The webinar forms part of the ongoing collaboration between Durham University's Centre for Sustainable Development Law and Policy (CSDLP) and the Centre for International Law (CIL), National University of Singapore, in advancing dialogue on key issues at the intersection of environmental law, climate governance and human rights.
