Professor Dr Kaj Hobér is a leading and distinguished figure in the field of international arbitration (commercial and investment). He has served as chair, sole arbitrator, and party-appointed arbitrator in over 400 arbitration matters under various rules and ad hoc. He was previously a partner at the leading Nordic law firm Mannheimer Swartling and is now an Associate Member of 3 Verulam Buildings, Gray’s Inn, London. He has acted as counsel in several hundred international arbitration matters, commercial and investment.
As a scholar, Professor Hobér taught at Uppsala University for many years, where he also established the LLM programme in investment treaty arbitration. He has published extensively, including seminal works such as “International Commercial Arbitration in Sweden” (OUP), “The Energy Charter Treaty – A Commentary” (OUP), and “Investment Treaty Arbitration – Problems and Exercises” (EE).
