The Institute of Hazard, Risk and Resilience (IHRR), I would like to extend a warm welcome to all new students joining our community this academic year.
The IHRR is a collaborative and friendly interdisciplinary community, bringing together researchers, students and practitioners with a shared interest in hazard, risk and resilience. While your teaching activities will form an important part of your studies, we also encourage you to engage with the wider IHRR community through our events, seminars, workshops and networking opportunities throughout the year.
Our first event will take place on Wednesday 21 October 2026, from 2.00pm to 3.00pm in the Manley Room, IHRR. Following this launch event, Coffee and Connections will be held on the first Wednesday of every month, providing a regular opportunity to meet fellow students, Early Career Researchers, Fellows, Affiliates and other members of the wider hazard, risk and resilience community.
Whether you are looking to expand your professional network, learn more about the work taking place across the Institute, discuss research interests, or simply get to know people in an informal setting, we would be delighted to welcome you. These sessions are designed to be relaxed and inclusive, making them an ideal opportunity for new students to build connections and become part of the IHRR community.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided, and you are welcome to drop in for as little or as long as your schedule allows.
Upcoming dates (2.00pm - 3.00pm, Manley Room):
We hope you will join us and help us grow a vibrant, supportive and connected IHRR community. Please also feel free to share this invitation with fellow students and colleagues who may be interested.
Please also join our IHRR Mailing list and follow us on our social media.
