The Vann Fellowship

Revd Bernard William Vann VCNamed in memory of the Revd Bernard William Vann VC, a Church of England priest and British Army officer killed on 3 October 1918, the Vann Fellowship is open to the study of all Christian traditions.

Through its programme of three-year postdoctoral fellowships, it recruits emerging scholars to develop new expertise and fresh insights into the study of Christianity and the armed forces. Holders of the Fellowship work with partner organisations, participate in the life of the Centre for Anglican Studies and the Department of Theology and Religion, and are required to complete an original academic monograph in the term of their fellowship.

Victoria CrossThe inaugural Vann Fellow, Dr Brian Powers, took up his post in September 2018 and is currently working on forces veterans and spiritual injury.
