A man in scrubs uses a stethoscope on a dog

A new VETchat podcast episode considers situations in which moral injury can be experienced in the veterinary profession, including moral injury in relation to euthanasia, moral injury during the pandemic and moral injury in a sustainability context.

Lydia Brown, veterinarian and former President of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, shares her own experiences and describes how she helped to set up the ICMI. As she and our Executive Director Brian Powers discuss in the episode, the ICMI is looking to bring together all sorts of professions for research into moral injury, and they describe moral injury research as an academic discipline that vets can follow. The podcast is hosted by veterinarian Anthony Chadwick, founder of The Webinar Vet.

Some articles on moral injury in veterinary and other professions can be found in the Resources section of our website.

If you work in veterinary research or practice and would like to discuss possibilities for postgraduate research or collaboration, please email us at icmi@durham.ac.uk. Please feel free to share this invitation within your networks.
