We are thrilled to announce that the Centre has been awarded funding from Durham University’s Equality and Diversity Fund to develop guidance and policies to support positive inclusion of autistic and neurodivergent students at the University.

The project has come about through discussion with neurodivergent students in the Department of Psychology and the linked work of the Centre for Neurodiversity & Development. The aims of the project are to

  • Deliver a new guiding policy on the teaching of autism and neurodiversity within the academic curriculum (e.g. especially around language and approach)
  • Reflect on the lived experience of autistic university students so that these insight can help shape our approaches/policies
  • Deliver a workshop for academics in the Department of Psychology on supporting and teaching neurodivergent students/on autism which can then be developed for institutional level delivery.

This project will run during 2022.
