Research Student in the Department of Sport and Exercise Sciences


Jo is a funded PhD student in the Department of Sport and Exercise Science at Durham University. Jo has previously undergone an undergraduate degree in Sports Science and Injury Management degree at York St John and then went on to complete a Sports Therapy and Physiotherapy Masters both at Teesside University. Jo is a practising physiotherapist for The Pressure Point as well as studying for her PhD.

Jo is a Member of the HCPC professional body.

Research Interests

Jo’s PhD is looking at menopause through movement, Jo has an interest in women’s health especially in the menopause as well as the psychological impact of injuries on individuals. 

Jo’s doctoral research primarily explores menopausal women’s embodied experiences of movement practices.

Teaching Areas

Jo has worked as a postgraduate teaching assistant on the following modules from 2020-present

  • Sport Health and the Environment.
