Teaching Fellow in the Department of Classics and Ancient History

Biography

I joined the Department of Classics and Ancient History as a Teaching Fellow in Classics in September 2022. Prior to arriving in Durham, I studied at the University of Cambridge, where I completed an MPhil and a PhD in Classics.

My research focuses on the Greek literary culture of the Imperial period, with a particular emphasis on the Christian responses to the epic tradition. My doctoral thesis looked at the so-called Christian verse paraphrases and their role against the changing background of fourth- and fifth-century CE Roman culture.

At Durham, I teach on various aspects of ancient history (with a focus on Imperial Roman history from Augustus to Justinian) as well as on Greek and Latin languages.

Research Interests
  • Greek literary culture in the Imperial period
  • Greek epic in late antiquity
  • Religious identity in the Roman empire
  • Ancient rhetorical theory
