Biography
I am a postgraduate researcher in the field of glaciology, primarily focusing on the links between glacier thermal regimes, ice dynamics and glacial hydrology. Additional, broader, interests include: understanding the physical processes controlling glacier behaviour and their wider environmental consequences, glacier hazards and the storage, transport and remobilisation of anthropogenic contaminants such as fallout radionuclides.
My Masters by Research investigates spatial variability in the thermal regime of the Greenland Ice Sheet. By integrating borehole temperature measurements with remotely sensed, modelled and geospatial datasets, I examine the roles of ice dynamics, hydrology, crevassing, climate and basal conditions in controlling the spatial heterogeneity of ice-sheet temperatures.
Previous research has focused on patterns of glacier terminus change in South-West Greenland and the climatic and physical controls underlying contrasting responses between marine-, lake- and land-terminating glaciers since the Little Ice Age.
Thesis Title: Englacial temperature variability across the Greenland Ice Sheet: The role of multi-scale controls and cryo-hydrologic processes.
