Tuberculosis Screening and Immigration Health Surcharge

Doctor checking blood pressure

If you’re required to have a Tuberculosis (TB) test before you apply for your visa, you’ll be required to provide this information to NHS staff when you arrive.

In some cases, additional TB screening may be required, and you’ll be given details about this if needed. Information about this will be emailed to you in the weeks before the start of your course.

If you apply to come to the UK for more than 6 months, you may need to be tested to show that you are free from Tuberculosis (TB) before you apply for your visa. Your application will be refused if you are required to have a test, but you either refuse or fail the test.

To find out whether you are required to be tested for TB, check the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) information for your country.
