• On the successful completion of this module students will be able to:
• conduct an in-depth investigation at an advanced level of a specific issue in accounting analytics and sustainability;
• theoretically underpinned and should normally involve undertaking empirical research supported by the relevant literature;

Subject-specific Knowledge:

• By the end of the module students should be able to show:
• critical understanding of the relevant topic through utilisation of appropriate techniques of research and analysis;
• development of a research project scope around accounting analytics or sustainability or a mixture of both.

Subject-specific Skills:

• By the end of the module students should be able to:
• effectively organise, structure and manage a research project at an advanced level, including undertaking critical appraisal of relevant literature, and apply critical judgement and discrimination;
• developed the ability to operate independently on a research topic and exercise appropriate judgement in the selection of material;
• demonstrate further developed skills of inquiry, quantitative and qualitative research design, experimental research, data collection and information retrieval bibliographic search, measurement and analysis, interpretation and presentation of results;
• develop advanced skills of research, analysis and scholarly expression in a chosen topic.

• The ability to communicate effectively: communicating complex ideas orally and in writing.
• The ability to think critically and creatively and to argue coherently.
• Problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Self-discipline, time management and the ability to work autonomously.

• The module is delivered via online learning, divided up into study weeks with specially produced resources within each week. Resources vary according to the learning outcomes but normally include: video content, directed reading, reflection through activities, webinars, opportunities for self-assessment, live scheduled webinars and peer-to-peer learning within a tutor-facilitated discussion board. Tutors provide feedback on formative work and facilitate discussion board communication as well as being available for individual consultation as necessary (usually by email and Zoom or Microsoft Teams). • The formative assessment serves to encourage students to study regularly and to monitor their learning progress. Tutors provide feedback on formative work and are available for individual consultation as necessary (usually by email and Zoom or Microsoft Teams).
• The summative assessment of the module is designed to test the acquisition and articulation of knowledge and critical understanding, and skills of application and interpretation within the accounting and audit context.

There is no formal formative feedback on the research project, although students can discuss their research projects progress in the supervisory meetings, and receive detailed feedback on one of their research projects draft chapter/section of the students choice.
