The Undergraduate Module Handbook (formerly the Faculty Handbook) includes the programme regulations for all undergraduate degrees offered by Durham University. You can use the regulations to check which modules are compulsory on your programme, and which are optional.

The module and programme information here is for current modules and programmes. Modules and programmes do change year-on-year, and are amended to take account of, for example: changing staff expertise, disciplinary developments, the requirements of external bodies and partners, and student feedback.

Programme Regulations and Frameworks

Programme regulations should be read in conjunction with the Core Regulations for Undergraduate Programmes.

To find the regulations for your degree programme, use the Programme Search links below.

Every effort has been made to ensure that the information contained in the Online Undergraduate Module Handbook is correct at the time of publication in June 2021. The University will use reasonable endeavours to deliver programmes and other services in accordance with the descriptions provided.

The University, however, reserves the right to make variations to programme contents, entry requirements and methods of delivery, to discontinue or merge or combine programmes, and to make variations to regulations, both before and after a student's admission to the University, if such action is reasonably considered necessary by the University.

Should industrial action, changes in government guidance regarding Covid-19, or other circumstances beyond the control of the University occur, and this interferes with the University's ability to deliver programmes or other services in accordance with the descriptions provided, the University will use all reasonable endeavours to minimise disruption as far as it is practical to do so.

If there is any conflict or disagreement between the information in these web pages and the Regulations which are published in the University Calendar, the version in the Calendar is definitive.
