Aims

  • To provide students with essential knowledge and skills in quantitative analysis to pursue empirical research.

Content

  • Introduction to mathematics, statistics and data fundamentals
  • Probability concepts and distributions
  • Sampling and the Central Limit Theorem
  • Point estimation, confidence intervals, and hypothesis testing
  • Linear regression analysis and applications
  • Other types of regression analysis

Learning Outcomes

  • Have knowledge of both theoretical and practical elements of key principles and methods in quantitative analysis.

  • Ability to apply quantitative methods to data and interpret results
  • Ability to conduct empirical research using knowledge acquired
  • Ability to conduct quantitative analysis using appropriate software

  • The module is delivered through a combination of lectures and workshops to facilitate the balance of theory and practice.
  • The students are assessed through summative and formative assignments. The formative assignment consists of an online quiz containing multiple-choice questions and true/false questions.
