Date range: Prehistoric to early 20th century CE

Size of collection: 142 pieces

Mrs Jarmila Stemson became interested in the ceramics of South-East Asia while living in the region with her husband in the mid to late 20th century. She set out to create a reference collection containing example pieces from across the region to highlight the connections and the variety of forms and designs seen in the ceramics of South-East Asia.  Unfortunately, very little archival material relating to the collection has survived.

This collection is currently the focus of research by students studying for the MA in Museum and Artefact Studies at Durham University.
