Dear All,

I was a student in the Medical School from 1958 to 1963 . All the classes took place in Newcastle at the Med School opposite to the old RVI . It was called the Durham Medical School at that time and in fact we received a Durham degree. We were the last year in 1963 to receive a Durham Degree after that it was a Newcastle degree.

The graduation ceremony was held in Durham and we met on Palace Green afterwards for photographs. I remember well the Rag week activities and still have photographs from one of the years. The Rag weeks that I remember seemed to be well accepted by all the people of the city and we went around rattling collection tins for donations. Proudly wearing the Med School scarf. I eventually ended up practicing Anaesthesia in Vancouver Canada emigrating with my husband in 1976.

The time spent in the Med School during those years was hard work but very enjoyable . We forged long term friendships particularly after the first 2 years spent in the Dissecting room studying Anatomy.

Jean Hazel Burrill was my name at the time .
