Collaborative work that connects Durham research with live policy and practice challenges.

Policy Hub projects bring researchers together with policy, business and civic partners to develop evidence, convene expertise and support impact. Work may operate at local, regional, national or international level, depending on the policy question and the partners involved.

Areas of work in development

Northern policy and economic development

The Hub's initial priorities include partnership with the Northern Powerhouse Partnership in areas including net zero, innovation, inclusive productivity and transport corridors, alongside engagement with regional policy bodies.

Research translation and policy outputs

The Hub will support portfolios of policy briefs, white papers and evidence syntheses drawn from the School's research centres and wider research activity.

Impact pathways

Projects can support academics to identify stakeholders, articulate a theory of change, plan evaluation and develop evidence for impact case studies.

Policy-engagement capability

The Hub intends to develop training and development activity that helps researchers understand policy contexts, communicate evidence clearly and respond effectively to opportunities for influence.
