Collingwood celebrates Senior Common Room relaunch
26 October 2026
Collingwood celebrated the relaunch of its Senior Common Room (SCR) last Monday evening bringing members together with student leaders to strengthen connections across the college community.
With over 50 members, the SCR provides a welcoming forum for friendship, academic exchange and involvement in our college life. The relaunch attracted a terrific turnout with members enjoying the opportunity to meet one another and the presidents of Collingwood’s sports clubs and student societies.
Dr Alasdair Anderson and Professor Olivia Woolley will serve as SCR Co-Presidents with Francis Pritchard offering to take on the role of Secretary. Together, they will help develop a programme of gatherings and activities throughout the year.
Members can look forward to opportunities to enjoy student art, dance, theatre, music and sport, alongside further SCR events. They are also encouraged to bring meetings and workshops into College, making use of its spaces to connect colleagues and students.
Professor Thom Brooks, Principal of Collingwood College, said: 'It was wonderful to see such a terrific turnout for our SCR relaunch and to bring members together with our student leaders. Our SCR has so much to contribute to the life of Collingwood as I know as a member when I first joined Durham University in 2012. I look forward to seeing these connections grow throughout the year'.
Our thanks to everyone who joined us and to our SCR officers for helping shape this next chapter.
