Van Mildert College’s annual charity fashion show on Friday 10 March was a night to remember.
The theme was ‘Dusk till Dawn’ and the Ann Dobson Hall was transformed with a catwalk and 250 guests.
Directed by Niamh Holford (2nd year Natural Sciences undergraduate), the event was a showcase of creativity and inclusivity, raising funds for two incredible charities:
The show boasted 130 models thanks to Mildert’s inclusive non-auditioned approach, and showcased clothes from students and local brands. The evening was made even more exciting by a raffle, and performances from Mildert's Dance Society.
The Van Mildert Charity Fashion Show is one of the largest charity events in the College’s calendar. Held in mid-February and attended by over 300 members of College and wider members of the University community, the show is organised and executed by a full student committee.The Charity Fashion Show brings the college community together like no other event, due to the high number of students and staff involved. In addition to strong College attendance and organisation, all models, dancers, perfomers, backstage helpers, sound and lighting technicians are also Van Mildert students.Van Mildert College prides itself as having one of the best fashion shows at Durham. We strive for very high standard of show quality, where no auditions are held for modelling because we believe everyone should be able to participate. All other performers, such as dancers, musicians, singers are auditioned.
