The central Student Communications team are here to help you stay connected to the information, opportunities and stories that matter, throughout your time at Durham. 

We bring together what you need to know from across the University, as well as share important information and updates from central support services.

Emails from Student News

These will be important need-to-know information, including from the Vice-Chancellor, Exams Team and Student Support Services. 

DU Student Newsletter

Delivered straight to your inbox with important updates, opportunities and reminders each Friday during term time. If you have something to share with the University-wide community, you can submit content to be included. 

DU Student News on Instagram

The University’s official Instagram account for current students. Expect timely news, updates, practical tips and useful info from around the University.

DU Student Essentials

The go-to site which brings together your most used systems, info and resources all in one place. The place for accessing your email, timetable, Blackboard and much more. Hosted on our internal website, SharePoint.

Campus screens

Digital screens around campus show a range of information, events and opportunities. The screens are updated regularly and are managed by the central Communications team.

From around the University

You can also expect to receive communications from your College and Academic Department, as well as any other clubs or societies you are part of.  

Colleges and Common Rooms 

• They will contact you about College-specific news or events, ways to get involved, health and wellbeing info or other important information such as building notices.
• All Colleges are different but you can expect them to contact you via your Durham email, through newsletters, printed posters and leaflets, social media or face-to-face forums.  

Academic Departments 

• They will contact you about your course or modules, assessments, activities and development opportunities etc. 
• It does vary depending on the department, but you are expected to check your Durham email and Blackboard. They may also share information through newsletters, social media or physical printed materials. 

Student Services and Support 

• Central University Services will also provide information on how you can access their services, and other useful information or resources. 
• You may be able to sign up for a newsletter or follow them on social media.
