Jason Sugarman KC

Honorary Professor

Jason Sugarman KC was educated at St. Chad’s College, Durham University and the University of Westminster and was called to the Bar in 1995.

He was appointed King’s Counsel in 2017 and is currently a barrister at Foundry Chambers, specialising in white-collar commercial fraud, financial crime and complex corporate criminal matters. He has over three decades of experience acting in significant and complex cases involving fraud, bribery and corruption, financial services regulation and other forms of business crime, and has acted both for the prosecution and the defence. Jason has extensive experience of cases involving the Serious Fraud ONice, HM Revenue & Customs and other government departments, and is a member of the SFO’s panel of approved King’s Counsel. He is a Governing Bencher of the Inner Temple and served as Co-Chair of the Bar Council’s Remuneration Committee from 2021 to 2023. He is recognised as a leading practitioner in financial crime by Chambers UK and The Legal 500, with Chambers describing him as a highly regarded barrister in complex white-collar criminal cases and noting his experience in cross-border corruption matters. Jason has a longstanding connection with Durham Law School and was appointed an Honorary Professor in 2026 in recognition of his extensive expertise, distinguished contribution to legal practice and commitment to legal education
