19-20 June, Durham Law School

Welcome to the Inaugural conference for the DCILP, we look forward to welcoming you to Durham University!

  • 19-20 June, 2023
  • 9am-5pm
  • Hogan Lovells Lecture Theatre, Palatine Centre (Durham Law School), Durham University

The Durham Centre for Indian Law and Policy (DCILP) is the first academic research centre focusing on India’s law to be established in the UK and only the second outside of India.  Recognising the central role which India plays in the global economy and legal order of the twenty-first century, the Centre’s purpose is to conduct original and interdisciplinary research on Indian law and policy without being bound by doctrinal, methodological, or sub-disciplinary constraints.  As such, it promotes research in topics including Indian public and private law (whether in e.g. a doctrinal, comparative or historical perspective), Indian law in the international legal order, India’s role in the international economic order, and India’s role as a legal model for other jurisdictions.

The DCILP held “soft launch” in Delhi during February 2023, and will celebrate its launch with an inaugural conference at Durham Law School on June 19 – 20, 2023.  We will have speakers from, among other institutions, OP Jindal Global University’s Law School, The National Law University—Delhi, Trinity College Dublin, and Durham University.
