This Conference will cover four distinct topics – all contemporary and discussed through the lens of energy disputes. The topics for analysis and discussion in the 5th Durham Energy Disputes Conference are:

(1) Energy Transition and Policy,
(2) CSR and ESG,
(3) Right to Regulate, and
(4) Sanctions.

The Conference is divided in four panels, with one opening and one closing lecture.
Purple DividerAt the Durham Energy Disputes Conference we seek to discuss and dissect the most urgent, contemporary, and sensitive matters.

We operate under strict Chatham House Rule. We genuinely want the contributors and authors to explore thoughts and ideas that will eventually lead to and culminate in a paper that will be disseminated more broadly through an anthology. To get there, we operate with an explorers mindset and no doors closed.

Our goal is to make an everlasting impact by bringing academia, practice, and policy closer. We seek to bridge East and West, North and South. We stand for no political slogans – we are guided only by the rule of law for everyone and unbound academic integrity.

Above all, we are guided in the pursuit of ensuring access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all (UN Sustainable Development Goal 7).

With these aims and objectives, we invite participants and authors selectively. The Durham Energy Disputes Conference is by invitation only. We actively invite a mix of diverse voices to enrich the debate with mental representations of all demographics.
