Building an International Research Profile: Scholarship, Policy, and Global Impact
Durham Law School is delighted to welcome Dr Pratyush Nath Upreti, Reader in Law at Queen’s University Belfast and internationally recognised expert in intellectual property (IP) law, research policy, and global justice, for a special session on academic career development.
Dr Upreti’s work spans international and comparative IP law, sustainability, innovation, and global policy engagement, including commissioned studies for the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development and advisory roles with the World Health Organization and other international organisations. His research has been published widely in leading journals and recognised with international prizes such as the Surya P. Subedi Prize.
In this session, Dr Upreti will share insights on how to build an international research profile, publish in high-impact outlets, and translate academic work into global impact, drawing on his extensive experience across scholarship, policy engagement, and interdisciplinary research.
This session is particularly aimed at PGRs and ECRs who are thinking about career progression, impact, and developing a distinctive research trajectory.
The session will take the form of a moderated conversation followed by an open Q&A.
