About the Session
The final session of the Innovation and Ownership series moves from conceptual debates to practical realities. Focusing on IP in research commercialisation and entrepreneurial practice, this session explores how IP frameworks shape innovation, collaboration, and impact within and beyond the University. Building on earlier discussions of authorship, knowledge, and responsibility in AI, it examines how researchers navigate ownership, licensing, and technology transfer when turning ideas into real-world applications.
Open to all members of the Durham University community.
Refreshments will be provided.

About the Project
Innovation and Ownership: Interdisciplinary Conversations on IP and Research Practice.
This project is a short interdisciplinary series of three sessions exploring how IP, authorship, and ownership shape contemporary research, innovation, and entrepreneurship at Durham University. It responds to growing interest among postgraduate researchers and colleagues across mathematics, philosophy, and the sciences, and aims to foster sustained collaboration between Durham Law School and other departments through structured, accessible discussions.
This series forms part of the IP and Innovation Initiative at Durham Law School, an emerging interdisciplinary platform exploring IP, AI, innovation, and research impact.
