The launch of Legal Education @ Durham (LE@D) will bring colleagues together to explore what excellence in legal education really means.

14th October 2026 at 5pm in PCL 054, featuring a keynote from Dr Jess Guth, Vice‑Chair of the Association of Law Teachers
Her talk, "Excellence in Legal Education: Contestations and Conversations”. In her keynote Dr Guth will explore what excellence in legal education means. What does excellence look like, and how do we achieve it, and what questions does that pose? Drawing on theoretical ideas to highlight the contested nature of legal education and of excellence, Jess aims to begin conversations which help us think more deeply about our work as legal educators.
