Professor Bohlander to speak at the Centre for Philosophy of Science at Münster University, Germany

Professor Michael Bohlander, Durham Law School's Chair in Global Law and SETI Policy, has been invited to speak at the Centre for Philosophy of Science at Münster University, Germany, which has organised an interdisciplinary lecture series on the topic of extraterrestrial life and intelligence across the autumn term of the academic year 2026/27, starting on 20 October 2026.

His presentation will address the challenges which arise from contact with non-human intelligence for human legal thinking and regulation, ranging from the situation after the detection of an artificial signal from outer space to the questions raised by direct contact, be it peaceful or hostile, and the current debate about Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP).
