Dr Lorenzo dell'Oso

Dr Lorenzo Dell’Oso has received the first-ever Kleinhenz Prize for Publication from the Dante Society of America for his influential new study on Dante’s early intellectual formation. His award-winning monograph re-examines the poet’s links with Santa Croce and Pietro delle Travi, earning international recognition for its innovative contribution to Dante studies.

We are delighted to announce that Dr Lorenzo Dell’Oso has been awarded the inaugural Kleinhenz Prize for Publication (2025) by the Dante Society of America, one of the most prestigious international organisations dedicated to the study of Dante Alighieri.

This newly established prize recognises Dr Dell’Oso’s monograph Il poeta alle “scuole delli religiosi”: Dante, Pietro delle Travi e il convento di Santa Croce (1294–1296) (The poet at the “schools of the religious order”: Dante, Peter of Trabibus, and the convent of Santa Croce), selected by the Society’s Council as the outstanding publication in the 2025 competition.

This honour marks the first-ever awarding of the Kleinhenz Prize for Publication and places Dr Dell’Oso’s research at the forefront of international Dante studies. His monograph offers a significant reassessment of Dante’s intellectual formation, illuminating the importance of Florentine conventual education and the role of Pietro delle Travi at Santa Croce.

We warmly congratulate Dr Dell’Oso on this exceptional distinction, which highlights both the originality of his scholarship and the global impact of his research.
