Postgraduate Study

Durham Geography is a world-leading centre of research, and our postgraduate community is central to our pursuit and delivery of excellence. Whether conducting original research or gaining experience in research-led teaching, our postgraduates work closely with staff to advance spatially informed knowledge that bridges theory and content and connects policy with practice. We have a vibrant and international community of over a hundred research and taught postgraduates. Our students explore cutting-edge issues across the wide range of issues to which geographers contribute. Postgraduate study at Durham aims to develop a range of high-level research, analytic, and communication skills that are transferable to multiple career paths. Our postgraduates are highly valued employees in government, third sector and private agencies, as well as academia.
We offer five taught postgraduate masters programmes as well as research-led programmes at the masters and doctoral level.
