Durham Geography is a world-leading centre of research, and our postgraduate community is central to our pursuit and delivery of excellence. Whether conducting original research or gaining experience in research-led teaching, our postgraduates work closely with staff to advance spatially informed knowledge that bridges theory and content and connects policy with practice.
We have a vibrant and international community of over a hundred research and taught postgraduate students, including International Students, who are exploring cutting-edge issues across the wide range of issues to which geographers contribute.

Taught Masters Programmes (MA/MSc)
Our Taught Masters programmes provide a thorough grounding in theoretical and practical approaches to identifying, understanding, framing, assessing & managing different aspects of risk. We offer 5 Taught Masters, each tailored to address urgent environmental, political, and social challenges.
Research Masters and PhD Programmes
We offer research-intensive programmes at both the masters and doctoral level. These programmes are driven by your independent research, and are supervised by academic staff.
