We are delighted to announce the signing of an Agreement of Cultural, Educational and Scientific Cooperation between Durham University and the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN), India.

An important development

The Department of Archaeology’s recent work both in research and in delivering in-person skills-based training to students and professionals around heritage documentation, presentation and protection, is an important development and one this MoU will continue to develop.

To celebrate the occasion, the Departments of Archaeology of both institutions came together to jointly present a seminar on the theme “Understanding the challenges of world heritage sites and the role of Archaeology in the global context.”

Mutually beneficial

The Head of Durham University Archaeology Department is eager to build strong academic and professional partnerships in India and so this new partnership is exciting. The department is looking forward to working with colleagues at IITGN and with Indian Government and Heritage Organisations on mutually beneficial collaborations.
