Durham University’s Light Opera Group, better known as DULOG, are excited to bring you Durham University Student Theatre’s largest Musical Theatre event of the calendar, ‘Hello Dolly!’ from 8th-12th February at the Gala Durham.

Book by Michael Stewart Music and Lyrics by Jerry Herman
Based on the play The Matchmaker by Thornton Wilder

For many years, DULOG have had the pleasure of an annual slot in the Gala Theatre, to showcase on a professional stage the very best of Student Theatre.

Promising to be a spectacle of glitz and glamour perfect for the whole family, Hello, Dolly! features classics, like Put on Your Sunday Clothes and Before the Parade Passes By.

It follows the story of Dolly Levi, a widow, renowned matchmaker, and all-round meddler, who decides that the next match she needs to make is for herself!

This Golden Age classic boasts a comedy-packed script to have audiences roaring with laughter, providing the heart-warming feel good atmosphere that will have you leaving the Gala Theatre ready to “close the town in a whirl!”

With more than 85 students across the cast, band, production, creative, design and technical teams this year’s Gala show promises an extremely high standard. This is testament to their passion, with many hoping to pursue a career in the performing arts.

Audiences can anticipate a spectacle of musical theatre performance, enhanced by professional sets and incredible costumes curated by the show’s design team.

It’s clear that the talent demonstrated by every member of the company will make for a Gala show bigger and better than ever!

As the students tackle a jam-packed rehearsals schedule in the weeks leading up to the show, look out for content and updates on the DULOG social media pages.
