We’ve joined the ZEISS Labs@Location partnership programme - a title held by an exclusive list of leading research institutions across the globe.

This strengthens Durham University’s position as a hub for Biosciences in the North East of England for research collaborators and businesses, enabling them to engage with some of ZEISS’s most advanced bioimaging platforms.

As part of the ZEISS Labs@Location Network, we will provide in depth knowledge host training for academics and industry, system demonstrations, and collaborative research.

Labs@Location institutes are leading research facilities working with ZEISS and have an excellent reputation implementing specific cutting-edge technologies, applications and workflows..

A significant asset for the region

Our Bioimaging unit gives researchers the ability to examine tissues, cells, and sub-cellular structures in exceptional detail.

This could lead to new breakthroughs in health, agri-tech, and engineering biology, and will open new opportunities for collaboration and innovation across disciplines, sectors and borders.

Awards from UKRI, such as £1M funding from the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council for a ZEISS Lattice Lightsheet Microscope, hardware which few institutions in the world have has enhanced our capability to capture images of biological processes and push the boundaries of our understanding of biology.

The Partnership is an amazing opportunity for world leading research and innovation organisations in our region and nationwide to work with Durham, to access some of the best hardware available from ZEISS to develop new capabilities and solve truly unique challenges in Bioscience.
