Durham University is committed to supporting the best students irrespective of financial circumstances.  The following scholarships are either funded by the university, through partnerships with external organisations or through generous donations from alumni and friends of the University.

All financial support opportunities have associated eligibility criteria such as household income therefore it is essential applicants consider all requirements prior to submitting an application.  Please also ensure you observe any application deadlines and submission requirements.

The scholarships, awards and bursaries below are for students who have already commenced their studies at Durham.

Durham University Student Travel Abroad Fund The funds are provided to support students wishing to travel abroad to undertake activities that sit outside their academic course and current area of study Undergraduate and postgraduate students Variable amounts

Durham University Expeditions Fund

For organised research-based expeditions to locations outside Western Europe.

Internships and Industry Fund for Computer Science

Financial assistance to support the uptake of internships, placements and other industry activities in the UK and internationally.

 

 Students on a computer science or natural science course at undergraduate or postgraduate level. Up to £1,500 (per cycle).

Santander Brighter Futures Grant Financial assistance to support your studies, including accommodation and living costs. All undergraduate and postgraduate full-time and part-time students.

Santander Scholarships 2025-26 Financial support for low household income, home fee, students to support education related expenses. Undergraduate and postgraduate students

Student Employability Fund Cash bursary for students with a household income below £62,410 to develop skills, attributes and experiences to help progression. Undergraduate and postgraduate taught and research students.

The Edward Richardson Travel Bursary
The Bursary supports School of Education students undertaking teaching placements abroad through the British Council English Language Assistant Programme
 Accepted onto the British Council English Language Assistant Programme.

Durham Cathedral Choral Scholarship Choral Scholarships are offered by the Chapter of Durham Cathedral. Undergraduate and postgraduate students.  Approximately £4021.03 per academic year, plus additional.
