Celebrate the Hindu festival of lights with this special late night opening. Visitors can enjoy traditional puja prayers to the goddess Lakshmi, music delicious food, games and more.

Everyone is welcome to join us for this spectacular evening Diwali celebration at the Oriental Museum.

There will traditional prayers to goddess Lakshmi, delicious vegetarian Indian snacks to try and arts and craft activities. Visitors will also have the chance to see a kathputli puppet performance inspired by Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, art and music.

There will also be a live Indian raga music.

Tickets are priced £3 for adults and children and must be pre-booked through Eventbrite.

To ensure people are served quickly, we will have staggered food serving slots. There are four food serving slots to choose from:

Admission at 6.00pm and food between 6.00 - 6.30pm

Admission at 6.00pm and food between 6.30pm - 7.00pm

Admission at 6.00pm and food between 7.00 - 7.30pm

Admission at 6.00pm and food between 7.30pm - 8.00pm

Parking and Access Information

Free Disabled Parking will be available in Teikyo University carpark, adjacent to the Oriental Museum.

Other free event parking is available in the University's Elvet Hill carpark. We have agreed with the university that visitors to the event will be able to use this carpark for the evening.

Diwali is a busy, exciting celebration. Please be aware that the galleries will be very busy, and there will be loud music and flashing lights.
