On Thursday 13 February, the Energy and Sustainability team attended the annual County Durham Environment Awards.

Four Durham University projects were shortlisted in four different categories, three of which were winners.

🌳 Nature in Places and Spaces Award: 'Enhancing Biodiversity for All'

The Biodiversity and Grounds teams won for their efforts in making nature accessible in our managed woodland, Botanic Gardens and maintained footpaths.

🏡 Sustainable Built Environment:

The Energy and Sustainability team secured an award for their decarbonisation work at James Barbour House.

🦊 Environmental Community Action:

Our Mammalweb citizen science programme for wildlife won the Environmental Community Action award.

🌍 Green Business :

Our Housekeeping team were shortlisted for the Odorbac initiative to minimise the impact of cleaning materials.
